The Studio

— From the Studio —

Ebenne was built on a conviction: that Black people deserve to be rendered the way the masters rendered their subjects — with weight, with intention, with permanence. Every print here is made in the language of impasto oil, because that language says what we mean. This is art built to outlast the room it hangs in.

The Work

Made in the
language of oil.

Every piece is rendered in impasto oil painting style — deliberate lighting, deep shadows, and thick textured brushwork that gives each portrait the weight of a canvas painting, not the flatness of a photograph.

These are not illustrations. They are portraits of Black subjects painted with the same compositional rigor as historical fine art — because the subjects deserve nothing less.

Each work is printed as a limited, signed edition on archival matte paper. Not a poster. A print made to be framed, handed down, and kept.

The Name

Ebenne

Ebenne is a variant of ebony — the deep, dark hardwood historically associated with luxury, permanence. A material made to outlast the room it is placed in.

The studio takes that name as a mandate: make work that lasts.
